Questions
Who is it for?
Year 12 students studying at least one of maths, further maths, physics, chemistry, biology or computer science, particularly those considering a STEM, engineering or medicine degree.
Is any prior knowledge needed?
A-level study in a science or maths is enough. Speakers are briefed to assume that level and nothing more.
How does it help a university application?
The UCAS personal statement asks why a student wants to study the course and what they have done outside the classroom to prepare. A piece of current research, understood properly, answers both. The talks, the written summaries and the workshop are built for that.
Does The Lab Result write personal statements?
No. Statements must be the student's own work. The Lab Result provides the research and a method for writing about it, never the text.
How do I book, and what does it cost?
The first talk is on Thursday 10 December 2026. The venue and price are sent to everyone who registers interest before they are published, and registered contacts receive the booking link first.
