A written summary of every talk
Sent after the event, with references, so that anything a student writes about the research is accurate.
A drafted paragraph
Written in the workshop against the UCAS Personal Statement questions, ready to develop.
Questions
Q01Who is it for?
Year 12 and 13 students studying at least one of maths, further maths, physics, chemistry, biology or computer science, particularly those considering a STEM, engineering or medicine degree.
Q02Is any prior knowledge needed?
A-level study in a science or maths is enough. Speakers are briefed to assume that level and nothing more.
Q03How does it help a university application?
The UCAS Personal Statement asks why a student wants to study the course and what they have done outside the classroom to prepare. A piece of current research, understood properly, answers both. The talks, the written summaries and the workshop are built for that.
Q04Does The Lab Result write Personal Statements?
No. Personal Statements must be the student's own work. The Lab Result provides the research and a method for writing about it, never the text.
Q05How do I book, and what does it cost?
The first talk is on Thursday 10 December 2026. The venue and price are sent to everyone who registers interest before they are published, and registered contacts receive the booking link first.
Q06Can a school bring a group?
Yes. Register as a teacher with the school name and the number of students in the message, and we will confirm places with you directly.
